My Samsung TV model UN49KS8000FXZA is 42 3/4 inches wide. It will not fit fit into your nitch. I had similar problem. My space was a 36 inch wide wall cubby enclosure. I installed 2x4's inside the cubby and installed an articulating tv mount. Works great! TV hangs just outside the opening, TV is less than 2 inches thick, so it just sits outside the opening like a picture frame.
