The stove body is stainless steel with an exterior black coating that prevents fingerprints, but the stove top is a black enameled steel plate. It is not very hard to clean but the burner bases are molded aluminum and there are screws next to each burner holding the top in place that could be a bit more challenging.

Please try again later.The black stainless model has a solid black(I'm assuming enameled it isn't the same as the rest of the unit anyway) cooktop while the regular stainless has a stainless cooktop. I've read the regular stainless version is quite the pita to keep clean/unmarred but haven't read/experienced the same complaint about the black stainless.
