no batteries in the remote control. it is powered by solar energy. turn the remote upside down to charge the remote. the instructions say that it will charge in any daylight condition.

You can charge the solar cell by leaving the back of the remote facing up. It will charge with either sunlight or indoor light. If you use the USB-C port, a red light will let you know that it is charging. The USB-C cable is not included. ^Val
