“Just got this TV for Christmas, and need to turn the volume up between 60 and 70 to comfortably hear what we are watching. That seems really high to me. Is this normal, or is it defective? Please help, as there is a limited window for a return/exchange.”

Volume will depend on the input source or App used. But, no you should not need to be at 70. I have never exceeded 50, and that was testing two different apps and 4 different input devices. I sit about 15 feet away in a medium sized master bedroom. Volume has not been an issue. Check audio settings and possibly try different stream protocols.
