The sound is EXCELLENT, I thought I had my stereo system on! But no I do not believe it has 5.1. I go directly from my cable box and from my BluRay box via optical(s) to my surround amp for the full on experience but most of the time, who needs it with such a wonderful onboard system? BTW, in most cases 5.1 or 7.1 would utilize 5 to 7 discrete amps. Most of what you hear on cheaper units are software programs designed to sound like surround by putting things out of phase and this is where you really run into problems. If you want your system to sound like in the theature do as I suggested above. good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it has WONDERFUL SOUND! They claim it has DTS 5.1 but who are we kidding? you need 6 speakers to get 5.1, everything else is done with software. If you're like me, listen to the great onboard sound 90% of the time and when watching a movie go through your stereo system.
