Does the TV have a optical audio input null

Yes it does, which made it easy for us to reconnect the Tv to our receiver.

Why would you want to go optical into a 1 inch speaker and besides you'll get the same digital signal via the HDMI in. I believe it has an optical out but that would be to go digital into an external surround amp, wouldn't it? BTW it does have the best sound of any TV I tested.
