“I tried your recommended size M8x1.25 39-41mm and they do not fit. M10 is too big, M8 is too small. I'm not too sure what to do now... please help”

It has nothing to do with length. They aren't thick enough. The M8 literally just goes into the holes, no attempt to thread

I added up putting a pencil in the hole and using it to measure and got a little bit longer then the measurement I took so I made sure I had enough room for the mounting base and everything
