Heat is an enemy of ALL electronics. If there is a mantle that extends out that will deflect the heat, that may help. Distance above the fireplace will also help. You could add a whisper quiet fan. Check the manual for maximum ambient temperature.

I have several friends that thought it looked cool above the fireplace but the issue was not the heat it was there neck's. One family could not understand why everyone had headaches all the time. The problem was they sat to close to the tv so they always had their heads tilted back for many hours while watching tv. I tried to get them to move back to lessen the angle but you lose the effect of the large screen the more you move back. They ended up mounting it on the wall and stopped having headaches. A friend said he just just recline anytime he watched TV, never went back to his house. He eventually moved his tv to a cabinet he got tried of up and down in the recliner. Ideal height for any sized tv is to have the center of the screen at eye level while sitting normally with feet on the floor. My Q80 sits on at stand that's 25" tall and that puts center of the screen about 5-6" higher than normal. My Q80 75" on the stand is about 38" height and with the stand t ht at puts my new center at 44". My old setup center was 38". Even at 7ft away i barely tilt my head and i can go hours and hours without eye strain. Other thing is the wires running on the side of mantel and anything you have plugged in can't sit on mantel it has to go in some type of cabinet so n.v if you have room for the cabinet why don't you just put the tv on top.
