• Yes , I sometimes do that my self especially when just using for phone calls but you definitely want both in for music. Just my thoughts on the music part.

• Yes. If you only remove one from the case, it will connect to your paired device and play audio. If you then remove the other bud, it will connect as well and play seamlessly.
