I came from the Galaxy S6, and didn't follow all the interim changes to the Galaxy S line very closely. Please try again later.I cant answer since I did not have an S9, I had the S8. since I only have the phone a few weeks, I cant say what is really difference, the size is very similar, the picture quality appears to be better and I like that the phone came with its own screen protector already installed
