Yes, instead of buying a subsidized phone, you're paying full price with a cheaper phone plan on verizon. My bill is exactly the same and in 2 years if I decide to keep this phone my bill will drop the payments and it will be cheaper. In one year I believe you're offered a new phone incentive in which you can sell your phone back to verizon and they will take money off of the next phone you buy.

Yes that's correct. But the voice and data charges are lower than if you used a two year contract and stay low after the phone is paid off. I assume you purchased the phone on a 24 month installment billing plan and not a 2 year contract.

No. many carriers offer discounts for finance or lease options vs 2 year contract. Also hopefully you got a nice bonus like a $250 Best Buy gift card that amounts to a 40% discount.
