Yes, you can use Skype on the Tab A. You do have to go the the Play store and download the app. As long as you are talking with just one person at a time and both of you are using the Skype app it's free. If you contact someone using a real phone and/or contact a group of people at the same time, then it costs money. Hope this helps.
