“Can i use this tablet for navigation in my vehicle without the need for a subscription plan or anything of that sort? I am looking for an alternative to a navigation system such as a Garmin but have access to other apps that a tablet can provide? Thanks!”

Yes it will work. It has built in GPS. I use Goggle Maps and Gaia GPS with mine. Both of those apps have downloadable offline maps.
