Yes wifi only but will play anything you have downloaded without wifi. You can get a SD card and add up to 400 GB. That would be enough for 50 plus movies 1000 songs and more. Most business places such as MacDonald's, Dr. offices etc will have wifi to connect to if you chose to use the internet. You can also download into SD card many Netflix , Showtime movies (if you belong to it via your provider), all to watch hundreds of movies when not tied to wifi.
