I use this functionality all the time. You may want to get the SD card so that you're storing Giles on it instead of the device. Saves room.

I have the 8' model and use both Word and PDF files and it works out great although its a smaller screen than the 9'7 model. Both sizes are soooo light to travel with in your purse or tote. Great for taking notes and creating work documents, attending meetings.
