“Does this watch need to be paired with a data line to use text/call features or will it work on Bluetooth?”

Hello TAG, good question! With this watch you can make and answer calls or messages right from your wrist! You just need to make sure the watch is connected to your phone through Bluetooth or through a mobile network. With a LTE watch model, you can even handle calls remotely. ^Elizabeth

It works via Bluetooth when your phone is near. My wife called me from the first story with her Bluetooth only watch when her phone was on the second story. The LTE can have its own line for data and calling.
