No you do not. As long as you use a HDMI cord to connect the DVD to the TV the Wifi service for your television has no effect on what kind of DVD player you have. However, you will not be able to use any apps that come with your DVD player if it is not hard wired to the internet. ... if you are buying a Samsung DVD player to go with your Samsung Smart TV the DVD apps are not really needed as they pretty much duplicate what your television has.
