not sure about google play movies (as we haven't done that) but we use amazon prime instant streaming all the time- super easy to use; amazon button is actually listed on the main menu

this unit will only allow a limited selection of samsung predefined streaming channels. I am returning my unit to the store. I am very disappointed.
