It will show all files on the drive. The OS (Windows, Mac, Linux) determines what shows, this is merely a storage device nothing more. Storing duplicates windows will ask if you want to replace the file but only if it has the same name.

Works fine with Apple Time Machine for making backup versions.

The drive does not do anything on its own. Backups, file copying, etc. are all controlled by software on the computer.
