Never had this problem. You may be pulling on the headphone jack or adaptor, or even just bumping it out a little bit and your phone thinks you unplugged your headphones. The first one I purchased did this. It was super touchy. Luckily Best Buy was super cool about it and replaced it with a new one. New one works like a champ. In and out of the pocket, tossed around my desk. No more issues.
