• Yes you can format the drive then You can use it on your phone. That's what I do and I use them on my cell phone all the time I have purchased at least 5 or 6 drives with no issues

• I don't think either your iPad or iphone has a USB port. You would need to adapter so the proper connections to a USB port were available.

• No, I don’t think you can use this on your iPad or iPhone, unless you use some wizardly crafts to plug it on your iPad or iPhone. Anything is possible, but after trying to use it on my iPhone which doesn’t have a USB port, your best bet will be to get one made for Apple products,not this one.
