Hi Rob, thank you for reaching out to us. The SanDisk Extreme Portable 2TB USB-C SSD should compatible with a 2012 Mac desktop, but since older Macs don’t have USB-C ports, you’ll need a USB-C to USB-A cable which comes with the drive.
