“Does this work with iPhone 7plus. I need to back up my phone and there isn’t enough storage in my icloud. Do I need a computer to use this or just use it on my phone”

In order to transfer use the iXpand Drive with your iOS device, please install the iXpand Drive Application from the Apple App Store. I was able to plug it into my iPhone's lightning port and it automatically detects which app you need to download from the app store. Once it is downloaded to your phone, you can backup on the device. It worked well for me.
