Hi, please be informed that all our external storage devices including the USB Drives are simple plug and play storage devices which you can connect to your Windows/ Mac computers using the USB Type-A ports including the older USB 2.0 interface. However, please note that you might not get optimal data transfer speeds when connected to a USB interface older than USB 3.1 Gen 2.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.USB 3.0 is fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0, USB 1.1, USB 1.0 from both the larger Type A and the smaller micro USB connectors. I'm pretty sure micro USB connectors are not used for USB 3.0 connectivity. I don't know why San Disk / WD can't answer a simple question like this without making it over complicated.
