I have used the SanDisk micro-SDXC memory card for files and Operating systems. So in my opinion would be fine either in its small form factor or inserted in the larger adapter. I use the micro card itself in a micro slot, but when needing to read in a laptop, I utilize or access the micro card with it inserted into the Adapter.
