your 4 tB will not give you the speeds that you need to match the internal ssd since yours is a Hdd. and this price is about right compared to other nvme of the same type

These will come down in time, but for the SSD speeds required for these consoles this is simply how much it costs to buy a compatible SSD. You can use your 4TB HD though to play current gen games or transfer your next-gen games back and forth between the system SSD and your external rather quickly as a much cheaper solution.

Even if you have an external SSD, the ones coming out on the new consoles are a higher quality. The only way to expand the memory capacity and utilize the full Specs is to get this for Xbox Series S/X.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, it's not too shocking to be honest. NVMe Gen4 SSDs are expensive to begin with. However, they're relatively new and top of the line SSDs. With that being said, regardless if you're looking to buy one for a next-gen console or a PC, you're going to spend around $200+ for a new NVMe Gen4 SSD. And to make a long story short, a HDD is much slower than SSDs. Hope this helps...cheers!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You should not think of this as a Normal HDD or even SSD, it has the specs only obtained from high-end NVMe drives in the m.2 format. ANY external hard drive using a USB cable regardless of generation will not be able to come close to the amount of speed required to run the new generation of games (USB is simply too slow). As a matter of fact all new Xbox series games will be required to be installed on either the internal hard drive or this specific external hard drive because of the speeds needed. This hard drive connects directly to the hardware through PCIe 4.... Yes it is expensive but for what it is and what it should be compared to it is a competitive price.

Please try again later.This NVMe drive is about 4-500% faster than the 4gb you have and while the Microsoft drives sounds expensive it's not that expensive compared to the m.2 drives and the fact that it's external (portable) and made for the Xbox it's worth the extra few dollars There are bigger reasons not to buy the new series but the hardware isn't the problem. The lack of new exclusive content is a much bigger issue
