• This SSD does not need a firmware. But your PS5 might need an update to support this drive. I installed this SSD to my PS5 and it worked perfectly. If your PS5 is up-to-date, it should be a smooth process. If you are using this drive for a PC, your motherboard needs to support PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs. Go to the website of your motherboards manufacturer to see if it is supported.

• I would imagine that you would get firmware updates the same way as most products. Register your drive with Seagate on their website, and they would have manuals and updates available to download. Go to Seagate site and check it out.
