Yes, the instructions that came with your bulb should tell you to set it up using the manufacture's smart phone app and within those set up instructions you can link it to your Alexa Dot. We control our bulbs exclusively through our Echo Dots.

Yes, you should be able to connect this with Alexa. I was able to connect it via the Amazon Alexa app for iOS (I'm sure there is an Android version), just go to "Devices" then press the "+" symbol and Add Device, and you'll see "Light" as one of the options provided.

Yes, you can use this bulb without having to use, or set up a hub. And it will work with Alexa, as that's how I use mine. You will need to set it up through an app on your phone to get started, then you can only use Alexa.
