Yes, they are very good for the function for hearing the television better when other are also listening to it at a lower volume. They are also excellent for use in watching another program on a different t.v. without disturbing anyone else that might be watching a different program on a t.v. that is in close proximity. This is the second pair of this brand of headphones I have owned. The fist pair lasted for over 10 years. The older pair is still functional but my new t.v. does not have a connection for the older version of the headphones. My only advice for using these headphone is that the leather ear pads and head pads wear out after about a years use and need to be replaced. Order some in advance from he manufacturer to have on hand when that happens. One time I ordered replacement pads and had to wait a couple of months for the pads to arrive because they were on backorder. The sound quality of these headphones is excellent. I have been very pleased with this product.
