• When used as a vacuum for quick pickup of crumbs, cat hair, yes. I do not know how it would fair as the full time vacuum. Works on both hardwood floors and carpet.

• It has a button to press to change from floor to carpet. I use on my laminate floor & it works good. I really only use for just a quick pick up. I do not have carpet but it works fine on my area rugs.
