Yes that is the only way I do it

Yes! It actually works fine without the app. I’ve used the app, Alexa, and run it manually and all 3 work just as well. Clean button to start, clean button again to pause, and dock to send it to the charger. I’ve also manually placed it on the charger just to try it, and that worked too.
