I own a few different vacuums and this is definitely the lightest I have but one of the most reliable. Unlike my dyson that is only good at picking up dirt, this one is a munching machine and will pick up larger items. Stay away from dyson as they are HEAVY and made for shorter people. The sharks are light and made for tall and short people

It weighs 13 lbs. I would classify it as medium weight. There are lighter vacuums out there, but may not work as well.
