The switch has 3 settings that allows you to use vacuum only or with power brush. Awesome!

When you detach the cannister to make it mobile, it's detaching from the roller brushes. When you stop moving the vacuum in general, and put it in an upright position the roller stops. The roller only moves when you have both the carpet button selected, AND are moving the vacuum.

The power brush attchment must be used with high suction to function properly. 
The motorized floor brush must remain attached to the lift away unit to function.

No, there's a power link that powers the foot, you would have to use the small canister roller attachment for that.
