The dust collection bin is O-ring sealed. It has a extremely fine-mesh metal cone-shaped filter, followed by a foam filter roughly 1" thick. Although there is no HEPA filter, it looks like it will be trivial to add a cut-to-fit HEPA sheet behind the foam. In its native configuration, I experienced no difficulties even though I have a dust allergy.

This model does not have a HEPA filter. There is a new model out now that has a HEPA filter and is a little more expensive, slightly less powerful and has a smaller dust bin.

This vacuum is great for people with allergies and it has hepa filters in the sealed filtering system
