No. You may have to register a credit card just in case you use any app that requires a paid subscription such as sling, Hulu or Netflix or if you rent or purchase movies for sale . There are free movies (old movies) and apps you can use such as YouTube, nickoldeon or pandora. Also the registration with Roku is free, they will even give you several free 30 day trials (just remember to cancel if you don’t want them before they renew). Your getting a free roku stick already installed in your tv.
