Hello, yes you are able to connect this TV to a cable box or antenna and not use the Roku account as this is optional. Please note that you would receive a free Roku account with the unit.

When you connect it to your provider box, an icon for that function appears on the screen and when you turn on the TV and click on that icon it goes to your regular TV service/channels. If you don't care about being connected to the internet, DON"T connect when it asks you to!! If you do, you will get all kinds of icons for ROKU service and you will have a screen full!! It just makes the whole thing "messy" and more complicated with those! I bought this TV for my 89 year old mother who will never use ROKU and I connected to the internet when it asked me to and it was a BIG mistake!! Just too much "stuff" on the screen to chose from that you don't need.
