Not sure what you mean by “a light” Simplisafe uses a magnetic sensor for use on doors or gates. You can turn the volume of the chime off if one prefers…

If an Entry Sensor is opened while the system is armed, it generates an alarm event, including a siren from the Base Station. The Base Station's indicator light also lights up, but doesn't flash. If you have the system activated on your SimpliSafe account, you can also get notifications of alarm events through the SimpliSafe app on your phone.
