• It is a standalone and does not require the SS alarm. However, if you have SS and pay for the interactive monitoring subscription, then the storage of your videos is included in that pricing.

• You can use it in conjunction with the SimpliSafe system or by itself. You don't have to buy the security system for it to work.

• I can't speak to the old Simplisafe system but the doorbell works with the new system and it also works standalone. I installed ours prior to getting the entire system.

• It does not require a system at all. I just installed the app and it was ready to use. Not sure if its compatible with a system.
