It connects to two low voltages wires that are currently connected to a doorbell button. This both powers it and allows for the "ding dong." If you don't have a doorbell, you can use a micro USB to "power" it and only get notifications via the app.

But it’s also how the camera gets the power to operate. The video signals from the camera travel by the WiFi in your house. It was an easy install and I’m very happy with my purchase. The picture shows the mail deliverer yesterday. I took the screen shot with the info box covering his face on purpose.
