“Can i just turn this mic on and start talking into it and people can hear me? Or does it have to be connected to a machine for my voice to be heard? I need a mic for my wedding vows it will be outdoors will this work?”

To answer your question, you will need to plug the receiver pack into a working microphone jack. You are not able to just turn microphone on and start talking into it.
