It should. I just bought it for my overseas trip and it worked. All that is required is wifi so that may be your biggest challenge - wifi where you're staying. The slingbox connects inline between your cable box and tv then connect to your home wifi. You access the box via the internet and watch whatever your cable box is tuned into. One caveat is that it only works with certain cable boxes that have RCA ports. This was not compatible with small receivers I have that connects to my DVR since they only have 3 connections - 1 power, 1 coax, 1 hdmi. Luckily I still have an older cable box receiver that still has RCA ports. It worked well as long as I had internet access. I watched tv on my iPad like I was sitting in my living room. Another caveat is the app. I had intended to watch this via the app on a smart tv. It seems they are falling short on developing the app for other platforms. Amazon Fire may have the app so you can watch on a tv. Of course there is an app for iPad. I have not verified other android devices yet. The app has a remote control for changing the channel. There is a lag changing the channel but it's handy. However, if you have an app on your phone to change the channel on your cable box, you can use it to avoid the lag via the slingbox app.
