In reality, you are simply using the sling box to change the channel on your cable box and then streaming it over the Internet.

For example, my slingbox is hooked up to my bedroom tv. If I am watching something on that tv and a family member is traveling and wants to go on the Slingbox it will change my channel. However, it does not change any other tv, but the one connected to it.
