That is possible and its what I do, but remember these are "dumb" wired speakers, so your house must be wired to allow all the connections to your receiver/amp, and your receiver/amp has to have the ability to feed signals to different rooms in the manner you want. In my case I have three rooms, one receiver in each room, but the receivers are connected to each other with an optical splitter and cables in a way that allows me to play the same thing everywhere, or different sources (or nothing) in each room.

You would need an Amp for each area to make this work. Other pre amps can help you do this same thing but requires a specific set up.
