The speaker is 4.75 inches and this would require a wall built from 2x6 lumber (5.5 inches plus .5 inch drywall gives you 6 inches of space. A wall with 2x4 lumber would only provide 4 inches of space. Depending on your location moisture vapor barrier may be an issue and you may need to build a box around the speaker out of foam or something. I would have the same concern around a ceiling with an attic. I have my installed in between levels of my home with fiberglass insulation around the speaker but not against it. No moisture will be moving or condensing since there isn't temperature variations in the space.
