You can control the sound of the beam 4 ways:

1) With your TV remote
2) You can use the Satellite remote if it is programmed to control the sound on your TV

Options 1 and 2 require you plug the Sonos Beam to the ARC HDMI port on your TV.

3) Via the Sonos App
4) Using the buttons on the top of the beam

You can control it with your TV remote. Mine is connected to a Roku TV, and I control everything with the Roku remote. You can also control it with the Sonos app on your phone.

yes...will need to connect the Beam to HMDI ARC for the TV remote to control (assuming your TV has that input)...otherwise, will need to program the remotes to control the Beam, assuming they have that capability, with the appropriate codes. The app is also handy but I would recommend utilizing the HMDI ARC connection if you have it...that makes it super easy (you can even use voice command to turn your TV on and off with the ARC connection, depending on your model TV).

When connecting Beam to the TV with the hdmi (arc) port coming from the TV, sound is controlled via the TV remote. You may also use you cable or satellite remote to control sound if it’s been setup to control the TV. Additionally you may use the app.
