“Can the roam be powered on/off from the app or do you have to power it up via the power button the speaker”

• Roam can be power off by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. Or, in room settings you can enable (if it's not already) battery saver mode that will automatically shut it off instead of put it to sleep after a few minutes.
