The closest you an get is about 12-14" and it's wide angle. I'm not sure this fits the bill. You'd probably be better off simply using your phone camera for this.

The camera does have 3X zoom that you can control from your smart phone or directly on the camera. The BOSS works great also, so your video will come out buttery smooth. I quit using my GoPro all together after buying this one.
