The TV has a digital optical out port, its kinda of square and you'll see a red light within it. If your surround sound has a digital optical port, connect it there and turn your input on your surround sound to optical, you may need to adjust your audio settings within your TV. If you don't have an digital optical on your surround system, but have a red / white plugs for an audio input, you'll need to purchase a digital to analog converter. You can get one on Amazon for $15. You'll need a digital optical cord and a set of red / white RCA plugs as well. This will enable you to send the audio out from the TV to surround system. You will be able to hear all your inputs on your surround system, TV, video games, streams. Some of the older surround systems have no audio inputs at all, only the DVD's will play through the speakers, if this is the case, you may be able to use the head phone jack from the TV to the surround ( if a head phone jack is there ) If that's your only choice you may find the sound muffled and poor. It may be time to invest in a sound bar or surround system.
