  • QuestionIf this has Bluetooth, why do all the pictures show the phone plugged into the unit?

    Asked by Donna.

    • Answer Hello Donna, Thank you for considering Sony products! We appreciate your inquiry regarding the Sony XAV-AX1000 media receiver. While the unit includes Bluetooth® functionality for hands-free calling and audio streaming, it primarily employs a wired USB connection for Apple CarPlay. This wired connection is designed to ensure optimal stability and performance for these advanced features. However, Bluetooth® remains fully functional for general audio streaming and hands-free communication without the need for a physical connection. • QuestionCan this be installed in a 2025 Malibu RS

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Thank you for contacting Sony. Based on the complex integration of the factory stereo in the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu RS, it is unfortunately not possible to install the aftermarket XAV-AX1000 car receiver. Modern vehicles like the Malibu RS often have essential functions (such as climate control displays, vehicle settings, and safety alerts) tied into the original radio unit, making a traditional replacement impossible without losing those features. Our Recommended Alternative If you are looking to significantly improve your sound quality, we highly recommend focusing your efforts on these upgrades: Upgrading the Speakers: Replacing the factory speakers with a high-quality aftermarket set will provide a much cleaner, richer, and more detailed sound output. Adding an Amplifier: Installing a dedicated external amplifier will give your new speakers the consistent power they need to perform at their best, resulting in greater clarity and dynamic range. This approach will dramatically boost your audio performance while allowing you to maintain all the crucial functions and aesthetics of your factory stereo system. • QuestionWill fit my 2013 ford explorer ?

    Asked by Willie.

  • QuestionCan you stream tv

    Asked by JodyS.

    • Answer Hi JodyS, Thanks for your question! The XAV-AX1000 is not designed to stream TV or video directly, as it doesn't have an HDMI input. If video streaming is a key feature you're looking for, a model like the XAV-AX8500 would be an excellent choice. It includes an HDMI input, which allows you to connect a third-party streaming device for your favorite video content. Thanks for your interest in our Sony car radios! Sincerely, Jenn | Sony North America.

  • QuestionDoes it support android auto as well, or just car play

    Asked by Biggus.

    • Answer Hi Biggus, Thank you for asking! The Sony XAV-AX1000 is designed primarily for Apple CarPlay connectivity. While it does offer Bluetooth for hands-free calling and audio streaming with Android devices, it does not support Android Auto. If Android Auto is a key feature you're looking for, we do offer other models in our XAV-AX series that provide that functionality, such as the XAV-AX4000 or XAV-AX8500. Thanks for considering Sony products! Best regards, Estefany

  • QuestionI'd like to install this radio in my 2017 Toyota Rav4. What installation equipment do I need if I want to install it myself? I want to retain steering wheel controls so I know I will need an adapter. Which one is needed? iDataLink Maestro?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi there, Many of our Sony radios will work with aftermarket adapters that will retain many, if not all, of your current Steering Wheel control features. The XAV-AX1000 is not iDatalink Maestro compatible, but our high-feature XAV-AX4000 model is. We would recommend you talk with an installation technician to find out help determine the best aftermarket adapter to retain features in your vehicle with the radio you eventually select. Aftermarket adapter available will vary based on your vehicle features and trim level, and our radio model. Thanks for considering Sony. -Eliab

  • QuestionWhat would I need to install this in my 2012 Toyota Avalon

    Asked by Ryce.

    • Answer Hi Okienana, For your 2012 Toyota Avalon you will need: the XAV-AX1000 unit, a Toyota-compatible dash kit, a wiring harness adapter, an antenna adapter, possible steering wheel control interface, and Sony strongly recommends installation by a qualified, professional installer due to the variables involved with different makes and models. They provide wire color/function documentation for their harness, but not for the vehicle's wiring. Best regards, Eliab
