“I have just had this TV installed (XBR65A8G). Directv has previously sent info about upgrading to a 4k UHD package to improve viewing. But this TV already has that or do you have to have the Directv package to activate it. Is it needed? Thanks”

Hi, MJ301! Yes, it is needed. You will need a 4k source in order for your TV to display a 4k content. So upgrading your Directv to a 4k package is recommended.
